I always said that I wouldn’t turn into one of those moms who has nothing to blog about other than their child… but what did I know?! Kate’s the most exciting thing going on in my life right now, so it only makes sense that she’s what I blog about, right? : )
One of Kate’s favorite things to do is take baths. She absolutely loves them! She has so much fun kicking and splashing and smiling, and Chris and I have fun watching her. Here are a couple of pictures that Chris took after her bath last night…
Another of her favorite things is getting her diapers changed. We have a bear rattle that we keep by her changing table that she gets to play with while being changed, and she LOVES that bear rattle! We get more smiles and coos on the changing table than anywhere else!
And finally, here’s a sweet picture showing a BIG smile!
We had Kate’s 2 month appointment today and couldn’t believe how much she’d grown! She is now 23 inches long and 11 lbs 6 oz. She is in the 78th percentile for height and the 72nd percentile for weight, so she is very nicely proportioned. : ) She is smiling so often now, as well as cooing up a storm. Hard to believe our little girl is already 8 weeks old!
On Tuesday I was starting to get pretty nervous because I couldn’t find Astro anywhere. I already feel bad because, try as I might, he just doesn’t get the same amount of attention as he did before Kate arrived. Now I was feeling worse because he had apparently run away in despair! Luckily, I finally saw this poking out from under the couch in the living room…
Upon further inspection, I revealed this
Apparently this is his new safe place, as now I’ll find him there quite a bit. Poor little kitty, has to hide under slipcovers!
In other news, I had to go back to work yesterday. Man, six weeks is not enough time! I cried all the way to the hospital, cried a little when I got there, and then cried a couple of other times throughout the day. I am blessed to have a wonderful family to take care of Kate (she’ll be with my mom one day a week, and Beth the other), but it was still so hard to be away from her. I’m pretty attached to that little peanut! I have today off and then have to work again on Friday, hopefully that will be a little easier since I’ve already done it once. We’ll see. I’m so thankful that I’m only working two days a week instead of my previous five, though!
I think this video is so super cute and I’m in no way biased! : ) You might hear me ask if Kate is feeling better… that’s because she is recovering from her very first ear infection. Poor little girl! She’s been on antibiotics for a few days now and she seems to be perking up a bit, but I think she’s still feeling a little puny. Anyway, hope you all enjoy hearing her sweet little voice and seeing her smile that lights up the world (well, the world of Chris and me at least!).
